Project types
Whatever you’re building, wherever you are across the Midlands, there’s a GoliathTech screw pile application engineered for it. Browse the full range below.
Types of installations available in The Midlands
Helical piles also known as screw piles, provide a fast, low-disruption foundation solution for residential and commercial projects. Unlike traditional concrete foundations, helical screw piles can be installed quickly with minimal excavation, making them ideal for restricted access sites, extensions, and time-sensitive builds. Their engineered design delivers immediate load-bearing capacity, helping projects move forward faster while ensuring long-term structural stability.
Our main project types

Decks and patios:
Anchored below the active clay layer so your deck stays level and secure, with no concrete.
Garages:
A clean, reliable footing for new or failing garages that won’t heave or crack on Midlands clay.
Sunrooms:
Adjustable pile heads set the base to an exact level, even on sloped or uneven ground.
Fences:
Driven pile posts beat concrete-filled holes on soft ground: faster, more secure.
Cottages and cabins:
For rural self-builds and holiday lets where concrete delivery is impractical.
Post-mounted fixtures:
Solid, adjustable and installed in minutes for posts and freestanding fixtures.
Footbridges:
A robust foundation for riverside and canalside projects that handles dynamic loading and wet ground.
Bollards and guardrails:
Certified foundations for security bollards and traffic guardrails, installed cleanly.
Pontoons and docks:
A stable, corrosion-resistant foundation for waterside projects on the region’s rivers and canals.
Underpinning:
Far faster and less disruptive than mass concrete underpinning for older Midlands housing stock.
Home extensions:
Extensions are one of the most common screw pile applications across the Midlands, and for good reason.
Carports:
A fast, no-fuss foundation with minimal disruption to your driveway or existing surfacing.
Balconies:
Quick to install with no excavation, ideal for where rear access is limited.
Gazebos and pergolas:
A permanent, stable base for any garden structure, with no digging up the lawn.
Swimming pools:
A deep base built for clay movement and hydrostatic pressure.
Industrial foundations:
Heavy-duty piles engineered for commercial loads, installed without delays.
Retaining walls:
Anchored into firm ground, ideal for sloped sites where concrete engineering would be costly.
Sports and recreational structures:
A clean, accurate, level base for tennis courts, MUGA pitches and leisure pavilions.
Agricultural:
Fast, practical foundations for barns, shelters and grain stores that don’t disturb productive land.
Foundation repairs:
Stabilise sinking or cracking foundations, common in former mining and clay areas, with minimal disruption.
Garden rooms:
Fast to install with minimal ground disturbance, the obvious foundation for any garden office.
Sheds and outbuildings:
Keeps your building level and dry, with none of the settling or rot that block footings develop.
Exterior stairs:
Anchored into stable ground so external steps don’t pull away from the structure.
Modular homes:
The level, precisely engineered platform these builds need.
Garden fixtures:
The level, precisely engineered platform these builds need.
Solar:
Fast to install across large sites, removable and reusable, a natural fit for solar.
Signage and hoardings:
Fast-install foundations for roadside signage, with no saw-cutting, excavation or reinstatement.

Telecoms masts and towers:
Load-tested foundations installed rapidly with minimal ground preparation.
Temporary structures:
Removable and reusable, a robust foundation with no permanent ground disturbance.
USPs
One system, every project
From a garden deck to a commercial foundation, a single proven pile system covers your entire site.
Specified to your application
Every project type is engineered to its own load, structure and ground conditions, never a generic spec.
Right for restricted sites
Compact equipment reaches rear gardens, side passages and tight urban plots others can’t.
Built for Midlands ground
Proven across clay, made ground, former coalfields and waterlogged river corridors.
Minimal disruption
No excavation, no spoil and no reinstatement, so existing surfaces and landscaping stay intact.
Fast to programme
Most installations are completed in a day, keeping residential and commercial projects on schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which projects can screw piles be used for?
Almost any. The same system supports decks, extensions and garden rooms at the light end, through to commercial foundations, solar arrays, retaining walls and underpinning. If it can be built, it can usually be built on screw piles.
Can screw piles support heavy commercial structures?
Yes. Heavy-duty pile options are engineered for commercial and industrial loads, and where needed they combine with concrete to give deep anchoring plus surface load distribution for the largest builds.
Are screw piles suitable for repairs and underpinning, not just new builds?
Yes. Screw piles stabilise sinking or cracking foundations and underpin older structures with far less disruption than mass concrete, which makes them well suited to the Midlands’ older housing stock and former mining areas.
Can the same application work across different ground conditions?
The application stays the same, but the specification changes. We adjust pile diameter, length and helix configuration to the ground at your site, so a deck in Lichfield and one on Black Country fill use the right setup for each.
How do I know which application is right for my project?
You don’t need to work it out yourself. A certified installer will visit, assess the ground and recommend the right application and specification for your build, free and with no obligation.
